RESOURCES FOR CHILDREN & FAMILIES
RESOURCES FOR TEACHERS & CHILDCARE PROVIDERS
ELF provides child development resources in English & Spanish that parents, child care providers and teachers can use to enhance the early care and education of children. ELF is open to the public, but materials are only available for checkout by ELF members.
The ELF is a source for child development resources, providing child care professionals and parents with the tools they need to enhance early childhood curriculum. Materials are available for checkout by members only.
Every Wednesday in the Early Learning & Family Resource Center, our ELF coordinators host a story time in which they or a volunteering community member read a story to local children aged birth to 5. Afterwards, they help the children make a craft and the kids dance to a song and have a snack. Story time is a free family-friendly activity for any child under 6 in Columbus County.
While you're here, check out the books and parenting resources available for loan. ELF is a lending library. For more information, call 910-212-6352.
Can't make it to the ELF? Now you can access these stories online!
Columbus County Partnership for Children (Smart Start), in collaboration with Whiteville City Schools, welcomes you to Smart Start Virtual Storytime in which CCPC staff and members of the community read beloved books in pre-recorded sessions. Read along with us if you have the book!
Is there a book you'd like to see us read? Are you interested in reading for our Virtual Storytime? Give us a call at 910-212-6352 and ask for Alyssa Lewis in the ELF.

Science has determined that the earliest years of life build the foundation for all future learning and success. The brain of a child who has had positive early childhood experiences looks different from one who has not. The structure and wiring are visibly and significantly different.
