Columbus County Partnership for Children: Board of Directors

Public Comments During Board Meetings:

While there is no law requiring the Columbus County Partnership for Children Board of Directors to provide the public with any opportunity to be heard, the Board or Committee Chair may allow for public comment at the beginning of each meeting.  Since the policy is not required by law, it is only a guideline to follow if public comment is desired and may be altered at any time for the Board of Directors or Chair.  If a guest would like to make a public comment he/she must inform the Chair prior to the meeting by signing in and indicating their desire to make public comment, be present when the public comment session is open, and speak during the public comment session for up to two minutes.  Questions from the guest will not be answered and all comments must be addressed to the body as a whole, not individuals.  Speakers shall be courteous and civil in their language and presentation, and they shall not engage in slander or name-calling.  Speakers shall not discuss any of the following: matters which concern the candidacy of any person seeking public office, including the candidacy of the person addressing the public body; matters which violate the confidentiality rights of any person or entity; personnel matters; and matters which are the subject of a public hearing.
